About the Author
Patricia Pingry has written dozens of children's books and edited hundreds more. Among her best-known titles are The Story of Christmas and The Story of Easter. Together these two titles have sold more than 2 million copies. Patricia lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where she continues to write and develop children's projects.
Nancy Munger is an award-winning illustrator of over 40 children's books. A graduate of Art Center College of Design, she has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with honors in illustration. She is best known for her use of bright colors and her wonderful illustrations of children and animals. She makes her home in Delton, Michigan.

It can help to introduce and add a little meaning to the flag.

I am giving this book a 5 star rating because it met my desire to introduce the meaning of our flag to my pre-school grandchildren. I keep the book at Grandma's house and put it out on the coffee table from the bookcase especially for patriotic holidays. Each page has a one line explanation for a picture, but the last two pages conclude with the whole Star Spangled Banner written out. It is a simple board book that the reader can enhance if and when he/she pleases or as questions are asked, and it (along with other similar holiday books) has been popular in our house.

Great patriotic story

This book was purchased for 4th of July story time! I read it to my grandkids, and they loved it. The story is very informative, even I learned some new information. The illustrations are bright and cute. Also, because it's a board book, it can take the abuse of a two year old.
